A location like none other in Southern Africa
Mother Nature is waiting to reconnect with you a mere 3 hours’ scenic drive from Cape Town. After visiting this slice of heaven, I can personally recommend that you choose De Hoop for your wedding and your honeymoon!
Imagine yourself on a floating champagne cruise with your new husband, being served delicious canapés while sipping your chilled bubbly. The only sounds are the calls of birds wooing their mates… You are aware of a soft breeze and the warm setting sun from behind your closed eyelids. You feel reconnected with the Earth, as the boat’s small engine starts up again slowly and your guide navigates the waters of the beautiful De Hoop vlei. This is nature at its best.
An Ideal Wedding Location
If you desire mother-nature as your backdrop, breath-taking views, a truly memorable and bespoke experience, De Hoop is a wonderful place to host a weekend celebration with your family and friends. The wedding team can build your personal itinerary with you, taking into account their various activities, ceremony sites, and meal options. It is best to make a physical site visit to view and discuss all the options. Up to 120 guests can be accommodated in the various types of accommodation, with a range of affordability and luxury. Their team of preferred suppliers will work with you to ensure that planning your Big Day is a dream experience!

Not to be missed:
Guided tours and activities around the Reserve:
Whale watching – the De Hoop marine reserve offers one of the world’s best land based whale-watching areas. During whale season (June to November), these clear waters are home to an estimated 500-600 Southern Right Whales.
Marine Walk – Awake to a beautiful pink sunrise, then explore the coastal rock pools and sandy beaches at Koppie Aleen, with its invertebrate diversity that is found nowhere else in the world. Highly recommended: Breakfast on the pristine white dunes overlooking the bay while you spot the whales.
Mountain Bike hire – cycling the beautiful De Hoop bike trail is a great way to view the resident game species and spectacular fynbos. Stop to enjoy cocktails & biltong before sunset, while you contemplate the walk, drive or cycle back to shower up before dinner.
Sunset Boat Cruise on the vlei – This is truly an experience not to be missed. Sip champagne while spotting the abundant bird life existing on and around the vlei including flamingoes, herons, pelicans and kingfisher.
De Hoop Spa – Your stay is incomplete without a visit to the wonderful spa (in our opinion)! Enjoy a refreshing chai tea before your treatment. The spa menu offers the most relaxing and indulgent massages by expertly trained spa professionals. Also on offer are facials, as well as mani’s, pedi’s, and waxing.
Vulture Experience – De Hoop nature reserve is home to a colony of the endangered Cape Vulture, which nests and breeds on the cliffs of the Potberg mountain. A brisk morning hike (approx. 1 hour) up to the viewing deck to watch these fascinating birds as they glide overhead is extremely rewarding. A delicious packed picnic lunch rounds off a morning well spent.
Whale of Trail – Annual 53km Whale Trail for running enthusiasts (max 175 runners). Find out more and how to book: www.whaleoftrail.co.za
