A richly colourful wedding was the culmination of Zandile and Lungelo’s true love story, and the traditional Zulu ceremony took place at the groom’s home in Esidumbini, KZN.
Explaining how they met, Zandile says “I had just come back from Cape Town and relocated to Durban. I wanted to rekindle my relationship with my high school friends and one of them was throwing a birthday party. I was sitting alone at one point, and he came over to greet me. We chatted that whole night and I knew I wanted him in my life forever, I just did not know in what capacity. After that day, we were inseparable. He became my best friend and we fell in love.”
How did he propose?
Lungelo says, “We were out on a double date with her best friend and her (then) boyfriend. We had separated from them and were sitting on the beach in the middle of the night. Just admiring the calm of the ocean breeze and enjoying the sounds of the night. It was a spontaneous move on my part but I went for it. Luckily she said yes. I’m still not sure whether she said yes because she loved me or because we were at one of her most favourite places in the world.”
The Bride’s best moment of the day: “Our first dance – it was a surreal moment. It was truly magical, our MC was an exceptional musician, and he did a Live rendition of the song What a Wonderful World by Louis Armstrong. It was a particularly special song because my husband had said he chose this song because it speaks of a perfect world despite all troubles, and that I am his perfect world.”
The Groom’s best moment of the day: “When she said her vows. It was everything to me. I believed every word she said even though I couldn’t believe I was getting married to the lady of my dreams.”
The couple agree that the entire day was simply perfect, with special thanks to Sapphire Events!
