Wedding and Events Supremo Marina Nestel

Business-savvy Marina Nestel imparts her wisdom and advice on everything – from heading up her own successful company, to wedding planning and Bridezilla moments!

Marina established The Little Black Book in 2007 and has since earned a reputation as Cape Town’s leading events management and public relations consultancies. “I attribute my success first and foremost to the fact that I am a genuine people pleaser, I enjoy being with people, and making them happy,” says Marina.

This inherent personal trait is immediately evident and it’s her warm golden sparkle and energetic aura which draws you in. In this business, which has seen a large number of agencies starting up in the last decade or so, it certainly helps being extremely well connected and Marina’s long and impressive client list is testament to her success, mainly garnered through word of mouth recommendations.

PR and event management as an industry has grown in leaps and bounds, from the early days where a publicist’s primary role was to write scintillating press releases for public consumption. The current market dictates that PR professionals present their clients in a much more compelling way than ever before, whilst engaging their targeted audiences through precise content marketing and creative story telling. The reality of today’s economy, combined with a spoilt-for-choice public, demands seamless, hands-on, absolutely bespoke client engagement. In simple terms, one size no longer fits all, and Marina approaches this challenge by being naturally attentive and an excellent listener. Her energetic client-centric approach makes it easy for her to provide custom-built marketing plans, and innovative events and parties.

Core business:

  • Product activation and launches
  • Celebration events such as weddings and baby showers

“I just absolutely love being able to tap into my creative side. Working with my clients and suppliers enables me to lend my vision to décor decisions, menu planning, invitation design and even helping with your flowers, cake and wine choices!”

It is all second nature to this event management maven.
